Rafael Nadal swatted aside by Marin Cilic in China


Marin Cilic shocked world No2 Rafael Nadal at the Beijing Open to set up a final showdown with Novak Djokovic tomorrow.

Eighth seed Cilic needed just 83 minutes to beat his Spanish opponent 6-1, 6-3, breaking Nadal five times during the match.

It was the first meeting between the pair, and the Croatian will be hoping to claim his fourth ATP Tour title in tomorrow's final against Djokovic.

The second-seeded Serbian also won in straight sets in the semi-finals, seeing off Sweden's Robin Soderling 6-3, 6-3.

Djokovic has won all three of his previous meetings with Cilic.

By clinching a place in the final Djokovic is set to claim the No3 spot in the world rankings from British No1 Andy Murray.

In the women's event, sixth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova booked her place in the final with a convincing 6-1, 6-3 win over Nadia Petrova.

The Russian broke her countrywoman five times, saving as many break points on her own serve, during a match which lasted 68 minutes.

She will play Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland saw off France's Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-3
